I used to blog on Blogger with the title “Glimpses of Me: To Know Myself is an Incredible Feat”.
On my 30th birthday, I decided it was time for a change.
I’d blogged under that title for 4 1/2 years, 256 posts.
Right after I made this somewhat impulsive move, I attended BEECH Retreat. And I learned a lot about blogging. I’ve been doing it for years, and for a while, carved out a little niche with my posts {rants} on infertility. However, I have felt, as of late, that my blogs are not doing much good. Oh, I still write well, and some people read, but I want my blogging to be purposeful. Helpful. Encouraging. Witty. Worthwhile. And lately, I feel like I’ve slacked off.
Hence the fresh start.
The titling of this blog was tough, because I’m not a “tips & tricks” or “DIY” type blog, but I’m also not straight up encouragement. I’m sort of muddled. My husband helped me brainstorm (which for this ISFJ, is not a favorite activity) and after realizing our best idea was already in use by another mom blogger, I resorted to pulling up a list of “M” words and browsing. About to give up, the word “make” caught my eye. And then “making”. And in my head I said, “The Making of a Mother”. That encompasses infertility, pregnancy and mundane motherhood stuff. That encompasses my random musings, that encompasses my passion for helping women understand themselves through Myers-Briggs. It encompasses my lovely balance of working with family, working from home, raising two kids, supporting my pastor husband … Yes! So there you have it. From mothering to ministry to myers-briggs.
Join me in this journey as a continuing chronicling this making of a mother.
I just recently made the move from Blogger to WordPress also and haven’t found it to be too painful. Actually, really like it so far!
Love it!
